Project Blowed is a Los Angeles Hip-Hop collective that has developed here in South LA’s Crenshaw Black Arts District for over three decades now. Project Blowed was co-Founded in 1993 by Good Life Cafe MCs Aceyalone (of Freestyle Fellowship) and Abstract Rude (of Abstract Tribe Unique) when they Executive Produced and self released the first classic Project Blowed cassette single (’93), then in ’94 the Project Blowed 2LP and CD. 

By late ’94 the A-Team along with Cultural leader, elder, Professor and Filmmaker Ben Caldwell, launched Project Blowed as a weekly open mic workshop held at Caldwell’s  KAOS Network non profit Black Arts hub in Leimert Park. But there are many many other talented names and dope crew entities from OGs like the Heavyweights, Afterlife Records, Mass Men, Feline Science, 2000 Crows, Global Phlowtations, B-Boy Kingdom, LA Symphony and The Shapeshifters to next gen heads like Acid Lab Records, Customer Service, Swim Team, Blu, the SBRC, Chamber Records, Tunnel Rats and beyond – who were there to help at the start and/or along the way – that make up the totality of who and what Project Blowed is and has become over time. 

Project Blowed is renown for being one of the longest running open mic workshops on the planet, running strong weekly for a decade, then lasting for about another five years before morphing into new movements like the Bananas Network founded by Verbs (aka Party Dad) of Swim Team. As an incubator of talent and as a collective of artists and hip-hop entities that span over three decades of generations, Project Blowed remains as one of the most organically impactful and influential institutions left for Hip-Hop in Los Angeles. 

This year to commemorate their 32nd Anniversary, since no one stage can possibly showcase us all being easily the deepest crew in the City, the Project Blowed Collective will host PROJECT BLOWED 32 WEEKEND…

A celebration that will host multi-generational events that span from last Saturday through Sunday in December at multiple locations around LA, including the birthplace Leimert Park.
