Plastic Ashes is an experimental performance collective based in Los Angeles that fuses music, movement, and video to shape an immersivestory as live spectacle. Their debut installation, The Ballad of Isolde, is based on an electro-folk-rock concept album that traces the mythic journey of young Isolde as she breaks free of her perceived constraints to venture into the wild expanse of her shadow-self, culminating in her transformation.

Musically, Plastic Ashes blends ethereal acoustic textures with electronic soundscapes, taiko drumming with electronic rhythm loops, and delicate harmonies countered by discordant vocalizations to sonically mirror Isolde’s inner turmoil and evolution. The ritualistic narrative unfolds through dance and projected visuals, enveloping the audience in the story’s emotional and symbolic depth.

The Ballad of Isolde premiered live in Los Angeles in September 2025 to sold-out audiences, marking the collective’s emergence on the experimental performance scene.
