Desperate Hauswives have fun. That should be the point of making music, but when you live in LA, it can get lost in the industry hustle. Started as a creative outlet after binging Desperate Housewives during the pandemic lockdown, the new band from LA indie scene veterans talker & Fiona Grey takes itself whatever the opposite of seriously is. With songs based on the insane plot lines of the show, they sing about wanting to fuck Mike Delfino the plumber, Edie Britt’s slut era, and the disturbingly high number of dead husbands that end up on Wisteria Lane.
The band’s ethos of BOYJOY is driven by the friendship of Fiona & Celeste (talker). Best friends & roommates for 7 years, they’ve faced multiple allegations of being a lesbian couple and have come out the other side more confused at their own friendship than ever. The world may never know. But that spirit is what makes Desperate Hauswives shows what they are: packed rooms full of audiences beaming with joy, screaming & dancing in a way you never see in LA. It’s the reason they oversold their first show at Permanent Records, and got someone onstage to do the worm during their most recent show at Moroccan Lounge. There’s no room for pretention in the Wisteria Poker Club – but all sluts, nosy neighbors, and Mikes are welcome.
